First Osun State Governor SERUBANWON Dies @ 62

The first Osun State Governor – after the partition of old Oyo State – Governor Isiaka Adeleke SERUBAWON dies on Sunday 23rd April, 2017. He is a senator in the current 8th Assembly, and a three term senator representing Osun West senatorial district, Isiaka Adeleke was confirmed dead.
Sen. Adeleke died at the age of 62 at Bikets Hospital in Osogbo, the Osun state capital after suffering a heart attack according to family sources.
His death has been confirmed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) through its twitter handle: @APCNigeria

Nollywood Actor Olumide Bakare Passes On

Nollywood popular actor, Olumide Bakare, is dead. He died in the early hours of Saturday 21st April, 2017, according to his personal assistant, who was with him when he passed away.
Information gathered confirmed that Olumide Bakare, who has been sick for more than a year was discharged from the University College Hospital (UCH) last year after he was allegedly diagnosed with a respiratory disorder problem.
It was gathered that the actor was yet to fully recover from the sickness that kept him indoors for months.

Naira Strengthened Further Against Dollar

The Naira on Thursday strengthened against the dollar in all the major segments of the market, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.
At the parallel market, the Nigerian currency gained five points to exchange at N385 to the Dollar from the N390 recorded on Wednesday.
The Pound Sterling and the Euro traded at N495 and N410, respectively.
At the Bureau De Change (BDC) segment, the Naira closed at N362 to the dollar, while the Pound Sterling and the Euro exchanged at N490 and N424, respectively.

Brilliant Nigerian Girl Olawunmi Akinlemibola Gets 14 Admissions

A talented high school student in Prince George’s County has a big decision to make soon –– she was accepted to 14 colleges and universities, including Harvard, Princeton and Stanford.
Olawunmi Akinlemibola, a senior at DuVal High School in Lanham, Maryland, was accepted to Ivy League schools, the University of Maryland and several other institutions.

The 18-year-old has a 4.15 GPA and already has earned college credit. She works hard for her success, her guidance counselor, Stacy Kline, said. “I’m just amazed by her,” she said. “It’s the internal drive that she has.”

Nigeria’s Young Scientist of the Year Oluwatosin Adedipe

16-year-old Adedipe Oluwatosin was named Young Scientist of the Year on 4th April, 2017, after winning the Young Nigerian Scientist Presidential Award at a ceremony held at Eagle’s Square, Abuja.
Adedipe emerged best at a competition organised by the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology, out of a total of 774 candidates (drawn from all the local government areas in the country) who participated both at the preliminary and the final stages.
