Celine Dion's Husband, Rene Angelil, Dies at 73

Celine Dion's husband Rene Angelil died on Thursday 14^th January, 2016 at his residence in Las Vegas after a long and courageous fight against cancer. He died at 73.

A statement released on the singer's Facebook page on Thursday read: “It is with deep sadness that we announce that René Angélil, aged 73, died this morning at her residence in Las Vegas after a long and courageous fight against cancer.”

'The family wishes to live the mourning in privacy. Other information you will be provided in the next few days.'

Angelil was first diagnosed with throat cancer in 1999 and it returned several times.

Early last year, a tearful Dion revealed her husband was no longer able to eat and was getting all of his meals through a tube. By August, Dion said her husband was preparing for his death. His final wish was to be with the singer when he passed away.

Dion married Angelil, her manager, in 1994 and the pair went on to have three children; René-Charles, 14, and twins Nelson and Eddy, five.

Angelil has two adult children from a previous relationship; Anne-Marie, Patrick and Jean-Pierre. May His gentle soul rest in perfect peace.
