The Super Eagles of Nigeria defeated Algeria 3 – 1 in a 2018
FIFA World Cup Qualifier played in Uyo. Victor Moses opened the scoring
with a solo goal while Mikel Obi added a second from a one on one position.
In the second half, Nabil Bentaleb scored a cracker from almost 35 yards after Riyad Mahrez had drawn Oghenekaro Etebo and Ogenyi Onazi out of position with some piece of trickery.

Victor Moses however scored his
second and Nigeria’s third when he found himself free on the left to slot
into the net as things stand, Nigeria lead their World Cup Qualifying group.
Chelsea winger Victor Moses put the Super Eagles in front after 26 minutes with a low shot from inside the area after Hicham Belkaroui failed to clear the danger.
Another defensive blunder cost Algeria again three minutes before the break when John Obi Mikel doubled the lead in bizarre fashion. The Chelsea out-of-favour midfielder thought he was offside when he was picked out by a through pass. He dithered for a second before realising that he was actually onside, firing low into the net.
Algeria's World Cup hopes were dealt a major blow with this 3-1 loss in Nigeria, who moved four points clear on top of the World Cup qualifying group after Cameroon were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Zambia. Hence, Nigeria 6pts, Cameroon 2pts, Algeria 1pt, and Zambia 1pt.
