Nigeria Crushes South Africa 2 – 1 to Qualify for the Semifinal AFCON 2019

Super Eagles of Nigeria qualified for the semifinal of the 2019 African Cup of Nations at Cairo Stadium, Egypt after thrashing bitter rivals South Africa 2 – 1 on Wednesday, 10 July 2019, in the semi-quarterfinal. Nigeria entered into this match with lots of confidence after beating reigning champions Cameroon in the round of 16, while South Africa on the other hand defeated hosts Egypt.
Gernot Rohr's men scored their first goal in the 27th minute through Samuel Chukwueze who benefited from an excellent pass by Alex Iwobi.
South Africa came back into the game nineteen minutes from stoppage time of the first-half when Bongani Zungu scored a controversial goal. Many were of the thoughts that the goal was on offside as it took the referee almost five minutes to make consultation before awarding the goal to South Africa.

As the Fans were thinking of the match going into penalties, the Super Eagles’ defender Udinese Ekong converted last second corner kick to score the winning goal for Nigeria in the die time of 89mins. Nigerians have now taken to social media to react to the Super Eagles victory with many praising Samuel Chukwueze for his superb performance which gave him his first international goal.

Nigeria vs South Africa ended in a 2-1 win in favour of the Super Eagles as Gernot Rohr's men made it through top the semi finals. The super Eagles is now on standby for winner of Algeria – Ivory Coast match today 11 July 2019
