The Brazilian
football icon, Edson Arantes do Nascimento, popularly known as Pele
died on Thursday,
December 29, 2022 at a Sao Paulo hospital. He had been diagnosed of bowel
cancel for age and receiving chemotherapy for bowel cancer before died on his
fateful day, Thursday, December 29.
Pele was given a befitting presentation at the recent world
cup, Qatar 2022, as a soccer hero.
Pele was a Brazilian
professional footballer who
played as a forward. Regarded as one of the greatest players of all
time and labelled "the greatest" by FIFA. He was among
the most successful and popular sports figures of the 20th century.
In 1999, he was named Athlete of the Century by the International
Olympic.
Pele scored a record 77 goals in 92 international matches for Brazil and the Guinness Books of Records puts his tally in a 21-year senior career at 1,279 goals in 1,363 games.
