The 42nd Olubadan of Ibadanland Oba Lekan Balogun Passes On @81

The 42nd Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Lekan Balogun, Alli Okunmade II, passed on, on Thursday, March 14, 2024.

The Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde announced the passing of the foremost monarch in a statement in the night of the fateful day.

Oba Balogun ascended the throne of his forebears on March 11, 2022.

The late monarch, who reigned for two years, joined his ancestors at the age of 81 on Thursday night at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, after a brief illness.

The late royal father was sick and remained indoors throughout Tuesday before he was taken to UCH on Wednesday.

He entered the Hospital at around 10.30 p.m. on Wednesday and died at exactly 9.05 p.m. on Thursday.

The remains of the Olubadan of Ibadanland were laid to rest on Friday afternoon at his Aliwo ancestral family home.

The Chief Imam of Ibadanland, Alhaji Abdulganiyu Agbotomokekere led the Muslim faithful to pray for the late monarch before he was interned. May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace.

The burial was attended by the Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Barrister Abdul-Raheem Adebayo Lawal, who represented the State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde.

Dignitaries at the event also included Elder Wole Oyelese, Alhaji Daud Akinola and junior brother of the deceased, Kola Balogun among others.

Members of the Olubadan-in-Council were led by the Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, Senator Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja.
