Anthony Joshua Knocks out Prenga in Four Minutes

Two-time heavyweight world champion Anthony Joshua knocked out Kristian Prenga, in his Sunday debut at the Jeddah Superdome, on 26 July, 2026.

His triumphant ring returned after surviving two early knockdowns from Prenga.  

The Nigerian British heavyweight fought for the first time since surviving the December car crash in Nigeria that claimed the lives of his close friends Sina Ghami and Latif Latz Ayodele.

The devastating accident occurred little more than a week after Joshua demolished YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul in a controversial Netflix-backed bout in December.

He was sensationally rocked by a huge uppercut from underdog Prenga in the opening round, and then hit the canvas again later in the round.

At that point he looked on the verge of one of the biggest shock defeats in heavyweight history, with the long-awaited Tyson Fury fight hanging by a thread.

But Joshua produced one of the greatest escapes of his career, and now that fight is on.  He unleashed his right hand in the second round, with the final shot sending Albanian Prenga crashing down and forcing the referee to halt the contest.

But Joshua steadied in the second, backing Prenga into the corner behind his jab, shrugging off more heavy blows from the Albanian before inflicting damage of his own with his left hand.

A brutal combination capped by a big right finally sent Prenga crashing through the ropes to end it at 2:43 of the second round.

Joshua’s last prior competitive appearance in the ring was his fifth-round knockout loss to IBF world champion Daniel Dubois at Wembley Stadium in September 2024.

Joshua and Fury now appear set for their “Battle of Britain” in November, at a venue still to be announced.

Fury, like Joshua a former two-time heavyweight world champion, did his part to make the long-anticipated fight happen, stopping Mariusz Wach in a low-key bout in Pattaya, Thailand, on Friday, 24 July, 2026.

Contracts have been signed, but the venue and date for a fight more than a decade in the making are still unknown.
