IBEDC, Electricity Has Come to Stay in Ibadan

The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company, IBEDC, has at last restored power supply in Ibadan outskirts as it commissioned the rehabilitated 2X15MVA, 33/11KVA Substation at Akanran Road, Olorunsogo, Ibadan, Oyo State capital.

The rehabilitated sub-station, with two 15MVA injections, distributes power to the local government and other communities from five local government areas in Ibadan.

The IBEDC Chairman, Dr. Olatunde Ayeni, in a speech delivered on his behalf by the Managing Director of the company, Mr. Fortunato Leynes, said IBEDC was an organisation bound by core values of teamwork, innovation, excellence, integrity and dependability and “we are committed to building a world class utility company where performance and exceptional service delivery comes naturally.”

Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State also described the occasion as “a thing of joy to me as the governor of Oyo State and a delight to our government.” He then advised residents and community leaders in the area to protect the power infrastructure and make it sustainable.

IBEDC Deputy Managing Director, Mr John Darlington, commended the leadership qualities of the governor and lauded the residents for standing by the company.

He said “Our customers are the reason we exist,” urging them to pay their bills and avoid short-changing the company via bypassing prepaid metres and illegal connections.
