Nigerian 10 Year Old Girl Tops Her Class Test in UK University

Esther Okade
A wonderful Nigerian ten year old, Esther Okade, has become one of UK’s youngest varsity students as she was accepted to start her Maths degree at the Open University. Esther, who enrolled three weeks ago, is already top of her class, scoring 100 per cent in a recent test.

Efe, the mother of marvellous kid, recalled the process of her daughter’s enrollment to the university as an interesting one because of her age. She said “We even had to talk to the VC and after they interviewed her, they realised that this has been her idea from the beginning.

Esther has been dreaming of going to university since she was seven. Esther Okade “But I was afraid it was too soon. She would say, ‘mum, when am I starting?’, and go on and on and on.

Finally, after three years, she told me, ‘mum I think it is about time I started university now.” Esther applied in August, and after a phone interview, an essay and a maths exam, she finally got the news in December 2014 that she had been accepted onto the course.
Though she watches cartoons and plays with barbie dolls, Esther’s aim is to get First Class honours degree in two years and start a PhD programme. She also hopes to run her own bank.
