Obj At 78 Plays Novelty Match, Scores Two Goals

Former Nigerian President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo threw Abeokuta into funfair on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 as MKO International Stadium, Abeokuta was filled with fun when Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) team led by 78-year-old colossus OBJ dragged Ogun State Government team led by the Governor Senator Ibikunle Amosun into 2 – 1 lead to win the match.
The novelty match was scheduled to commemorate the 78th birthday of Obasanjo who played as skipper in the match and marked 78 years breakthrough.
The OOPL team skipper, Obasanjo, displayed some physical fitness on the field of play and scored the two goals while the Special Assistant to the governor on Special Duties scored the lone goal for the government team. Obasanjo lost about four scoring chances. The first half of a 60-minute of play was goalless. Both team lost scoring chances.
The OOPL team rebound in the second half with players such as Prof. Akin Mabogunje, 88-year-old, Dr. Femi Olopade and one of aides of the former president, Vitalis among others, gave the Amosun-led team a tough time. Mabogunje was a capable hand at the goal post. All the old ages rejoiced with OBJ in the match were blessed with sound health and displayed it including celebrant himself.
Helping the Amosun’s team on the defensive, were the secretary to the state government, Adeoluwa Taiwo and the State Chief of Staff, Prof. Ganiyu Olatunde among other.
The OOPL team won the Five-A-Side match with Obasanjo, Amosun and Mabogunje winning golden boots, most valuable player and golden gloves respectively.
