Former Governor of Oyo State, Dr. Victor Omololu Olunloyo passed
away in recent hours today Sunday, 6 April 2025, after short illness at a
private hospital in Ibadan, aged 90.
His wife, Mrs. Ronke Olunloyo confirmed his death in a
statement released earlier on Sunday on behalf of the family.
Dr. Olunloyo’s demise comes just days before his 90th
birthday celebration which was already being planned, according to the family.
The defunct National Party of Nigeria (NPN) Governor of Oyo
State (1983) was a renowned mathematician, engineer and technocrat who held
several key positions during his lifetime. He was the first rector of both the Federal
Polytechnic, Ibadan (The Poly), and Kwara State Polytechnic. He was also the
Balogun of Oyo chieftaincy and Otun Bobasewa of Ife.
The family expressed gratitude for his life of service and
requested privacy as they begin preparations for his burial.
