In a
landmark silver Jubilee of Nigeria's 100-year birthday, notable Nigerians who did
shape Nigeria to its contemporary era were meritoriously honoured at the
Centenary Awards which held at the banquet hall of the Presidential Villa in
Abuja on Friday February 28th for their immense contributions and
vital roles they played in the history of Nigeria.
Among
the prominently awarded fellowship are Former Presidents/Heads of State,
business men, entertainers, sports men, and families.
President Jonathan decorated seven living former Heads
of State and Presidents including; Yakubu Gowon, Alhaji Shehu Shagari, Gen.
Muhammadu Buhari, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida, Chief Ernest Shonekan, Gen.
Abdusalami Abubakar and Chief Olusegun Obasanjo.
He also
honored 6 late Nigerian Heads of State post-humously, such as late Nnamidi Azikwe, Gen Muritala Rahmat Mohammed, late Musa
Yar'Adua etc.
