I am Alright – Olubadan of Ibadan

Contrary to the anxiety spread in Ibadan on Thursday over the health status of the Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Samuel Odulana, with many spreading the information that he was dead, the King himself responds to the media, says I’m hale and hearty.

Social media platforms were bombarded with the news, but later in the day, the monarch spoke with the correspondent, saying he was alive.

Arisekola Alao to be Buried beside Mother’s Grave

As soon as the remains of the late Aare Musulumi of Yorubaland, Alhaji Abdul-Azeez Arisekola-Alao arrive in Nigeria today from London, he will be buried at 9.00 a.m.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Media, Dr Festus Adedayo issued the statement in Ibadan yesterday.

Prof. Dora Akunyili to be Buried on Aug 28

The family of the erstwhile NAFDAC boss has announced that the former minister of Information and Communications, Professor Dora Akunyili, will be buried on August 28, 2014.

“Details about the funeral arrangements will be made available to the public in due course,” her husband, Dr Chike Akunyili, said in a statement issued in Awka, Anambra State, on Sunday.

The husband thanked Nigerians for the love they extended to his beloved wife, both in life and at death.

Lagos States University (LASU) Fees Revisited and Slashed By Govt.

In a crucial move to heed students’ complaints and agony, the Lagos State Government announced a reduction in the tuition fees of the state university.

The government said the reduction would be between 34 – 60 per cent across the different faculties and courses.

The aggrieved Students of the Lagos State University had staged many protests to air their complaints against the “high school fees” and had demanded its reduction.

How is your health now?
My health is better now, glory be to God.

What exactly was the nature of the ailment?
I cannot really say what the nature of the ailment was but the day I got to know was when I went to my family doctor’s hospital at Jibowu, Lagos. They tested me and said I needed to go to another laboratory for a more comprehensive test.

Adieu Prof. Dr Dora Akunyili!

The death of erstwhile NAFDAC boss and former Ex-minister of Information, Prof. Dora Akunyili, was received with rude shock.

Dr. Akunyili, it was learnt, lost the battle with cancer in an India Hospital to the cold hand of death.

She was reportedly taken to the Indian hospital on 11 May, 2014. She left for eternal rest at 59.

What Did You Do with Your Allocations? Okonjo Asks Governors


The Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, goes thorough in transparency by asking state governors to tell Nigerians what they do with the huge allocations they receive regularly from the Federal Government.

She said, many of the states get monetary allocations that threefold the annual budget of some neigbouring countries to Nigeria. The Minister disclosed this on Sunday while delivering convocation lecture at the Babcock University, Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State on a topic: ‘Transforming Nigeria’s economy: Opportunities and challenges’.

Oyo NURTW Ex-leader in Court for Murder Case

Former chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers in Oyo State, Mukaila Lamidi (a.k.a Auxiliary) was on Monday arraigned before the Magistrate Court, Iyaganku, Ibadan on two counts of charges; murder and conspiracy.

The accused, who was arrested last month in Ibadan, was brought to the court premises by armed policemen led by Inspector Banujoh Samson, of the Zonal Headquarters of Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), Osogbo, while security at the vicinity of the court was fortified by the presence of large number of mobile policemen.

Gov. Ajimobi Commiserates with Ladoja Over Son’s Death

The Oyo State Governor Abiola Ajimobi offered condolence to the former governor of the state, Senator Rashidi Ladoja, over the death of his son, Adebola, who died in an auto crash in Lagos on Thursday.

The governor, in a statement issued in Ibadan on Friday by his Special Adviser on Media, Dr Festus Adedayo, described the death of the former governor’s son as tragic, disheartening, unfortunate and sad.
