The Super Falcons of Nigeria won Lionesses of Cameroon in an epic quarterfinal battle held on Thursday evening 14 July 2022 inside the Stade Mohammed V in the Morocco’s commercial and economic capital, Casablanca in the ongoing Morocco 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON). With this expensive trophy the Falcons have secured a ticket to the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 to be hosted by Australia and New Zealand. Coach of the Super Falcons of Nigeria Randy Waldrum admitted that the Super Falcons had a tough encounter against the Lionesses.

The Cameroon's Football Federation President Samuel Eto'o arrived in Morocco ahead of the Match and urged the Indomitable Lionesses to end Nigeria's dominance in the competition, but the Super Falcons claimed the victory as birthright to the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Rasheedat Ajibade was the heroine of the victory following her sublime header which went into the net in the 55th minute.

There are four automatic slots for Africa and teams that reach the semifinal of the WAFCON tournament will go through. With this winning over Cameroon in the quarter final, the team will take on the host team, Morocco on Monday night at the Stade Prince Moulay Abdallah in Rabat.

Nigeria’s Super Falcons are current champions of Africa after winning the competition in Ghana in 2018.
