4 Cocoa Stealers Get 21 Years Jail in Osun

On Friday, a four-man robbery gang were sentenced by Osun State High Court sitting in Osogbo to 21 years imprisonment.
 
The convicts are Omotayo Sunday, Kamoru Satoye, Biliaminu Alalade and Fatai Muraina. They were charged on a two-count charge of conspiracy and armed robbery.

The four accused persons were at first arraigned before the Osun State High Court, Ile-Ife Judicial division on June 11, 2013 and were later transferred to the High Court, Osogbo.
 
According to the prosecution team from the Ministry of Justice, “the accused persons forced their way into Obalosun cocoa store in Ipetumodu, Osun State, on October 20, 2010, disarmed and matcheted the night guard on the head, tied him up and went away with 20 bags of refined cocoa beans, valued at about N462,000.”
 
The case hearing began on June 11, 2013 with the prosecutor having three witnesses and exhibits tendered, while the accused persons didn’t call any witness apart from the individual testimonies implored in their defences.
 
Delivering his judgment, Justice F. E Awolalu convicted four of them on a two-count charge of conspiracy and robbery and sentenced them accordingly.
