Boko Haram’s Activities Have No Relation with Islam – Sultan of Sokoto, Ajimobi

The governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi who hosted the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar in Ibadan on Friday for the inauguration of the Bodija estate and environs Muslim Community Islamic Centre has jointly condemned linking of Boko Haram’s activities to Islam.
 
The Sultan, who is the President-General of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, said Islam was a religion of peace, hence the need for Muslims to continue to live peacefully with non-Muslims in their respective domains.

He urged Muslims to always emulate the act of Prophet Mohammed in their daily activities.
 
Senator Abiola Ajimobi also in his remarks denounced the public misconception of associating terrorism to Islam, stating that it is a religion of peace.
 
The governor enjoined communities to always play active roles in Islamic activities, for the development of the religion, stressing that, whatever they did here on earth, especially building of mosques, they would reap the benefits hereafter.
 
Another speaker on the occasion, Professor Abdul-Ganiy Oladosu, the Chief Imam, University of Ilorin Central Mosque said in his lecture entitled ‘The Role of Mosque in Islam,’ said mosques had the potential of uniting Islamic faithful without discrimination.
 
He said mosques also played important role in health care delivery and also, provided education to Muslims about health care, both preventive and emergency aspects.
 
Professor Oladosu described mosques as a place where community social functions such as marriage, eid party and other ceremonies could take place with Islamic guidelines.
