The Federal Government has given the
Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) one week ultimatum to call off the
ongoing strike, the acting Minister of Education, Nyesom Wike told journalist during
a press briefing in Abuja this morning.
ASUU execs and President Jonathan
were supposed to meet this week but the meeting is yet to hold. The ASUU strike
began July 1, almost 5 months later but no resolution in sight.
The FG issued a directive that any academic
staff who fail to resume on duty latest December 4th should automatically count
themselves out of staff of the institution.
Pro-chancellors of the various universities and
the National Universities Commissions (NUC) have been directed to ensure
compliance of the directive.
