The Black Stars of Ghana have
qualified for its third successive FIFA World Cup despite going down 1-2 to
Egypt in their second leg playoff game in Cairo on Tuesday.
Ghana qualified on a 7-3 goal
aggregate after winning the first leg at the Baba Yara Stadium by 6-1.
The Pharaohs took the lead in the
first half through striker Amr Zaki when he jumped pass Akaminko to head home
Mohammed Aboutrika’s lovely cross into the box.
Substitute Mohammed Gedo extended the
lead in the 84th minute but returnee, Kevin Prince Boateng partnered
with Captain Asamoah Gyan in the 89th minute to give Ghana the thump
card as he scored from a close range.
Ghana now joins West African countries;
Nigeria, Cameroon and Ivory Coast for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil next year.
