Nigeria Super Eagles Win Cameroon 2 – 0 to Reach Quarter Final in AFCON 2023

Nigerian Super Eagles have vigorously eliminated Cameroon with a 2-0 victory in a match played at Felix Houphouet Boigny stadium, Abidjan, Ivory Coast, on Saturday, January 27, 2024, in the Africa Cup of Nations, advancing to the quarter-finals to face Angola. All the battalion charged for the battle were elegant and humorously ready for the match and were graced to perform at the top of their efforts.

Pa Taiwo Akinkunmi, the Nigerian Flag Designer, Passes On at 87

The Nigerian history maker, Pa Taiwo Akinkunmi, designer of the Nigerian Flag, died at the age of 87. He died on Wednesday, 30 August 2023, after a brief illness. 

His son, Akinkunmi Akinwumi Samuel, announced his death via social media on Wednesday.

Heavyweight Anthony Joshua Wins Robert Helenius with One-punch Knockout

Anthony Joshua, the British boxer of Nigerian origin, defeated the Finnish boxer, Robert Helenius, with one-punch knockout in round seven in their heavyweight boxing bout at the O2 Arena in London on Saturday night, 12th August 2023.

The former heavyweight champion won the fight after he handed his opponent from Finland a brutal punch in the seventh round in the first half of the match.

Osun State High Court Sentences A Hotelier Adedoyin to Death by Hanging

Osun State High Court has found the popular hotelier, Dr Ramoni Adedoyin guilty in the murder case of Timothy Adegoke. The court, under the ruling of Chief Judge Adepele Ojo, sentenced Adedoyin, who is the owner of the Hilton hotel, to death by hanging on Tuesday, 30 May 2023.

The victim, Timothy was a former master’s degree student of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, whose death occurred at Hilton Honours Hotel, Ile-Ife between 5 and 7 November 2021.

Nigerian AIT Founder Raymond Dokpesi Passes On

Nigerian Media mogul Raymond Aleogho Dokpesi passed on at age        of 71. Chief Dokpesi, the founder of DAAR Communications, proprietor of Africa Independent Television (AIT) and Raypower FM died Monday morning, 29 May 2023, in Abuja.

Chief Dokpesi died while exercising on the treadmill in his home. His son, Raymond Dokpesi Jnr., confirmed the development in a statement on Monday.

Fake New ₦1,000 Notes in Circulation, See the Difference

It was reported that few days after the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, released the redesigned naira notes in the denominations of ₦200, N500 and ₦1,000, fake copies of the new ₦1,000 naira notes have been released into circulation.

A mobile money and bank agent in a video disclosed this saying that a customer performed a bank transaction through his wife’s Point of Sale (PoS) using the fake copy of the redesigned ₦1,000.

The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Atanda Adeyemi III joined his ancestral late hours yesterday Friday, 22 April 2022, at the Afe Babalola University Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti, the capital of Ekiti State in the South-West Nigeria.

The remains of the colossal monarch of Yorubaland were brought back to Oyo town in the early hours of Saturday, 23 April 2022 for burial.

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji (Aje Ogungunniso 1) joined his ancestors this morning Sunday, 2 January 2022.

The 93-year-old monarch passed away at the University College Hospital (UCH) in Ibadan, Oyo state.

Having confirmed his death by palace sources on Sunday, the Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, said, “The news of the death of our father, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Saliu Adetunji, Aje Ogungunniso I, came as a shock. His wealth of experience, his immense wisdom, and his commitment to seeing a greater Ibadan and a better Oyo State are unrivalled. Ibadan, Oyo State,
